According to a news release on February 6, 2024, Evolution is set to acquire yet another gaming brand. This time, however, it’s not a software provider. Instead, Evo is buying out an innovative platform that is set to combine live casino gaming with streaming.
What is Livespins?
As some of you may know, gaming streamers have recently sprung up as an influential factor in casino gaming. To the uninitiated, these streamers record themselves playing their favorite games and sharing the experience with viewers online. The most popular of these can boast thousands of viewers at a time.
Livespins allows such streamers to integrate their betting into the video stream itself. It essentially allows audience members to “bet behind” the streamer, automatically placing the same bets they do. The idea is to turn casino game streaming into a truly communal experience. If the streamer wins, so do the players. You can see how this could be a lot of fun in the right circumstances.
As noted above, Evolution acquired the company and product for a reported EUR 5 million. The full acquisition process should be completed before the end of Q1 2024.
Although Livespins is essentially a business-to-business service, players should still take note. We can expect to see the platform integrated into all Evolution-based brands. These include major providers such as NetEnt, Ezugi, Red Tiger, NoLimit City, and others. If you enjoy watching casino streamers, this is exciting news.
“Playing along with a streamer is a whole new way to play online casino games. This was on our roadmap.” said Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s Chief Product Officer.
It seems the top of the industry is very much aware of the rise of social casino streaming. He also added:
“YouTube, and other platforms have proven the popularity of live streaming while playing online casino games. We think players would love to play along with them and now that will be possible, right from the Evolution lobby.”
